❯ Meta Muse passes 10 million US downloads in 40 days with stronger-than-average retention

Consumer AI sees another rapid launchTechCrunch, citing Sensor Tower, reported that Meta’s AI assistant Muse has attracted 10.9 million downloads since its September debut, including 10.2 million in the US. It is the twelfth mobile app to reach 10 million US downloads in its first 40 days. Muse handles tasks on users’ behalf and is currently focused on the US and Canada.

Distribution and advertising drive acquisitionMeta can promote Muse through its other products and is increasing advertising support. Sensor Tower estimates that Muse’s share of Meta’s advertising expenditure rose from 23% in September to 39% in October. Downloads therefore reflect product appeal, existing distribution and promotional spending together.

Retention adds evidence beyond installationUS seven-day retention was 30% and fourteen-day retention was 23%, compared with averages of 19% and 16% for the AI apps in the report’s comparison. Retention measures whether people return after installing, providing a closer indication of repeat usage. Muse has attracted returning users, although these early figures do not establish long-term monetization.

▮ SIGNALLarge platforms can generate installations quickly; sustained competition in consumer AI requires turning acquired users into repeat usage habits.
