❯ Apple closes above a $5 trillion market value for the first time, the second company after Nvidia
Seventh time luckyAccording to 9to5Mac, Apple shares closed at $342.96 on October 14, up 0.5%, for a market value of $5.01 trillion, its first close above $5 trillion. The Wall Street Journal noted it was the seventh time Apple had crossed $5 trillion intraday; the earlier attempts did not hold to the close. Nvidia reached that level first, in October 2025.
Rising while tech fellMost tech stocks fell that day: Oracle dropped 8.83%, Meta 3.27%, Microsoft, Amazon and Google 1.7% to 1.8%, and Nvidia 3.16%. Possible drivers cited in the report include new products such as the iPhone 18 Pro lineup and iPhone Duo, and investor confidence in John Ternus, who became CEO on September 1. Apple reports its next quarterly results on November 2.
